9^th Annual 2010 Australian Air Guitar Champs (AAGC)

The search to find ‘the greatest guitarist in Australia who never played’ is on once again!

2010 ‘AAGC’ Qualifying Rounds & State and Territory finals begin in March at venues throughout the Nation.

Competition & venue details below.

Competition entry is free & entry forms will be available from participating venues.

Sensational prizes are up for grabs including the major prize of a trip for one to Europe, including airfares & accommodation, to attend & compete in the 15^th annual Air Guitar World Championships (AGWC) qualifying round in tropical Finland, August 2010. State & Territory champs will be richly rewarded with a trip for one, including airfares & accommodation, to attend & compete in the AUST & NZ Final, Canberra Irish Club, Canberra, ACT, Saturday 29-5-10.

The 2010 AGWC attracted a large field international competitors totalling 16 including: Australia, New Zealand, Japan, United States, Canada, Norway, Great Britain, Germany, Netherlands, France, Italy, South Africa, Finland, Estonia, Russia and Greece. French man, Sylvain 'Gunther Love' Quimene won the 2010 AGWC title.

Contestants play two rounds being 1) Free Round being a self-chosen song, and, 2) Mystery Round. Air guitarists’ guitars must be invisible, i.e. air. They can play electric, acoustic, or bass air guitar – or all of them & assistance from personal air roadies is allowed.

Judges pay close attention to the ‘air guitarists’ Showmanship (originality, charisma, artistic impression) and Technique (strum and cord synchronisation).
